Unexpected Blessings

Sometimes I walk in gardens

Among the flowers and the bees

I can imagine milk and honey

Flowing gently through the trees

Blest with the warmth of sunshine

And a soft caressing breeze

The world is all as it should be

Then worship draws me to my knees

Other times I find I’m walking

Through a gloomy wilderness

Not sure where my next step should fall

So I pray a prayer and guess

I endure the cold of all my fears

Like an icy howling wind

And I stumble on a rock or two

But I get back up again

With eyes of faith I’m pondering

The rocky path on which I walk

When I notice what I did not see

There’s honey in the rock

A word from God that’s sweeter

Than a milk and honey day

I ingest that word and find

He still walks with me in the way

“…and with honey out of the rock

should I have satisfied thee” Psalm 81:16 (KJV)
