Worldview Explored

Once I heard a psychologist say that people who have certain facts in their worldview adjust reality to fit these “facts”. “For instance,” he said “in your worldview, you believe that women don’t own Harley-Davidson motorcycles. If at some point you see a woman ride by on a Harley, you would assume it was borrowed. In this way, your worldview stays intact”.

After hearing this, I worried that my Christian worldview placed God in a “no-lose” position. Maybe I was adjusting reality to fit my worldview.  If my life is full of good things, I say God is blessing me and I am grateful. When tragedy strikes, O say that God is with me and will bring good out of the pain.  So, no matter what happens, God cannot lose. I believe that He is good- all the time.

But this enlightenment is not my own worldview or even a Christian worldview.  It is God’s truth revealed to us through God’s word. It is really a glimpse of God’s view of the world and happens to be absolute truth.

Actually, I am the one in a “no-lose” position. If my life is full of good things, I am blessed.  When tragedy comes into my life, I trust God to work ALL things together for good, and I am blessed. When the end of this life comes, I get to be with Christ forever and enjoy eternal blessings.  My worldview has a little window to heaven.

How can I doubt the goodness of God?  I find it incredible that He doesn’t lose faith in me…..
