Duet

If I base my life on works, Lord

How much would be enough

To hear you say when I pass those gates

“Welcome home, my child – well done?”

If I base my life on keeping rules

Are you good with the first ten-

Or do I also have to follow

The ones made up by men?

I want to bring you joy, Lord

Your heart I long to please

So I’ll concentrate my whole life song

On daring to believe

I’ll believe when the sun is shining

And when the clouds roll in

I trust the One who died for me

To save me from my sin

I give my heart

I give my mind

I give my soul and strength

You give and you take away

And I sing “Blessed be your name”

But I can’t wait for heaven, Lord

To know that you are pleased

Open my ears and let me hear

You softly singing over me

“Then said they unto him, ‘What shall we do, that we might work the

works of God?’  Jesus answered and said unto them, “This is the work

of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”  John 6: 28-29 ( KJV )
