Sandcastle

I built my house on shifting sands

Truly believed that it would stand

So I filled it up with lots of stuff

Hard to tell when I had enough

I heard the weatherman one day

Say a big storm was on the way

So I battened down the hatches

Locked the door and latched the latches

I held on while the storm blew past

With eyes closed, wondered what would last

I shut my ears against the roar

Of howling winds and rains that poured

And while I shivered out that storm

I thought of days sunny and warm

Remembering the hopes and dreams

Recalling all the plans and schemes

That I poured into this foundation

The sweat, the tears, the dedication

Then I stopped- and looked inside my heart

I had some doubts right from the start

Surely something wasn’t right

There must have been an oversight

What did I miss in the foundation?

JESUS- the Rock of my salvation!

When the storm ceased its mighty roar

I stood unsheltered on the shore

All was lost- But all was found

For now I longed for solid ground

Lord, you’re my Rock, my Truth, my Light

Let’s get some tools and build this right

“Except the Lord build

the house, they labor in vain

that build it…”

Psalm 127: 1a (KJV)
