Moving day is coming
I can feel it in my bones
The birds now sing
In hushed and muted tones
And the flowers that are blooming
Somehow lost their brilliancy
Sweet fragrance fading
Now to memory
The busyness of days gone by
I recall their toil and stress
Now I work so hard
To accomplish so much less
Still, I thought I would be hesitant
To ever leave my home
After all, it is
The only one I’ve known
But my brother sent a letter
He’s preparing me a place
I know all things will be better
When I can just see his face
And the things that I have clung to here
Will tether me no more
I keep my suitcase packed
And by the door
